Everything But the Kitchen Sink

Hi Friends,

It’s that time again, time for another around the house Everything but the Kitchen Sink challenge. It was Ann’s turn to select an item from around the house, and her choice was aluminum foil.

The first thing that came to my mind with this was robots, so I ran with it. This is what I came up with

We have another awesome sponsor this time, WPlus9. Dawn is giving away one stamp set of the winner’s choice. Woohooo, She’s got some great stamps, so I’d get working on your cards!

Thanks for stopping by, I can’t wait to see what you come up with.

Just Keep Swimming

Hi Friends

Ever have one of those days where you are overwhelmed? Can't take it anymore? Well this card is made for someone who's having one of those days, weeks or months. Sometimes we just have to keep swimming, right?!

I hope that it would cheer up the recipient and maybe make them smile for a bit:)

I used Critters in the Sea, Partly Cloudy and Harold's ABCs to create the scene. Hope you like it.
Short post tonight. Hope your week is off to a great start

New Week

Hi Friends,

Well, here we are at the beginning of another week.  Did you have a nice weekend?  Ours was busy and HOT. It didn’t rain on Saturday, so we took advantage and worked outside. Carlin trimmed some branches that had been damaged during storms and mowed. I spray washed the deck. We had some issues with the power washer we rented (couplings and starting), but we persevered. After nearly 4 hours of washing, our neck is quite clean now. It’s amazing how different it looks. I plan on staining/waterproofing it soon.

Today, we had church, and I was so exhausted that I came home and indulged in a Sunday afternoon nap.  I love naps, I mean I really love them. Lately, we’ve been so busy that I’ve not allowed myself to take one. Today, though, I caved it, and it was bliss.

SO, enough of my ramblings.  Because we’ve been busy, I’ve not spent much time in the craft room. However, I do have some projects to post. I have some projects that I submitted to the Paper Crafts publication call that weren’t picked up.  I am very excited to say that I did have one card picked up!  This is the first time that PC has picked up something of mine, and I am just thrilled.

So, here’s today’s reject :)

DSC_0091_edited-1

I still love this card even though it didn’t make the cut.  I had the idea of this in my head for a long time, and the first couple of lay-outs I tried, I didn’t like as much.  I my try the concept again in another lay-out. I just love the idea of the kitty dreaming about a fish for his birthday.  (Yes, the cat is a boy in my mind, at least for this card…. I usually color him like Frodo who is a boy).

Anyway, I hope you like today’s post. And I’ve said it before, if you are submitting for publications, keep trying. Perseverance pays off. I had been trying for a year with PC and had almost decided to take a break.  You just never know what they are looking for, and each magazine seems to have a different style.

Hope you have a fabulous day!

Off the Wall Craftiness Challenge

Hey there Friends

Yes, I’m getting another challenge in under the wire.  I am a procrastinator, but my week has been so busy that tonight is the first night I had time to work on it, really.  I love Kim’s Off the Wall Craftiness Challenge she hosts each week, and I really wanted to play. SO here I am again, posting at the last minute.

This week’s challenge was to use mint green, black, and a touch of red (if you dared---wink).  Here’s my take on the challenge:

oftwc24june

You can see that I took the dare. I also added two shades of mint green, so I hope I didn’t knock myself out by doing that. I just liked the contrast.

Speaking of Challenges, remember the Everything but the Kitchen Sink Challenge. You have 2 days left (27 June).  We’d love to have you play.  There’s a great prize… $25 gift card to Lawn Fawn shop!

Thanks for stopping by.

I love Target

Okay, so there, I said it. I know many of you share this sentiment.  I mean Target is just so much fun.  One of the things I really enjoy is the $1 bins at the front of the store. I am a sucker for them I would say.

So, my former supervisor loves (and I mean LOVES) Hello Kitty.  One day I came across a Hello Kitty pail in the $1 bin, so I picked it up, thinking I may have cause to use it. Sure enough, my former boss, Linda, has been helping me with one of my former projects (that I cannot get rid of despite being in my new job since 1 April). It’s a train wreck. That’s the best way to describe it. I want to get it cleaned up before I transition the remainder of the work to the person inheriting it from me. Linda has been super supportive of me and has really had my back. She and I have a meeting tomorrow, and I put together this little thank you ensemble for her.

DSC_0106

(Oh, by the way, she also LOVES Tootsie Rolls.)  This was a quick and easy project to put together, and I know she’s going to appreciate it. She’s got such a stressful job, I really want her to know how grateful I am for her support.

Thanks for stopping by!

Playdate Cafe color challenge

Hi Friends,

Well, we had more storms last night.  The wind was really whipping around, and yes, there are more damaged limbs in the tree. So far, the momma bird and her nest are unharmed.  She’s quite protective of the nest, let me tell you.

So onto today’s card… I’m getting another one in under the wire for the Playdate Cafe challenge. They are doing their colorsplash challenge, and I just love those. I really wanted to play along, so I made the card tonight, just in time.  The primary colors are black and white with a splash of blue.

Here’s what I came up with (using my new Unity Kit of the Month along with some W Plus 9 stamps).

 DSC_0098DSC_0100

Here’s a close up of the flowers and the butterfly. I put on some sparkle using the Spica Clear pen, but it’s so subtle that you really cannot see it in the photo. However, it’s a nice little touch in real life:)

So did you all submit to the recent Papercrafts publication call? I submitted a few, but I didn’t overdo it this time.

I hope you are all doing well. Remember the Everything but the Kitchen Sink Challenge. You have until 27 June, and there’s a $25 gift card for the Lawn Fawn store at stake!

Happy Summer

Hi!

How are you friends? I hope your summer is off to a great start.  My day went by fast which is always good. We had some wicked storms come through again today. I had just gotten into the office, and the sky got so dark that it looked like night.  We’re seriously seeing some crazy weather this year. I’m hearing that there are more storms in the forecast. I always feel bad when it storms while we’re at work. I don’t like the pets being scared while we’re away. I know I’m a sap, but they’re my fur babies :)

Anywho, onto today’s card. I thought I’d share a 4th of July card I made a LONG time ago for a publication call that wasn’t picked up.  I still like the card (although I would photograph it different now).

Have a great day.

Outta title ideas

Well, friends, I don’t have anything clever to say today, not that any of my titles are all that interesting. Today though I really didn’t have anything on my mind to title this post.  I’m not feeling all that great, so my energy and creativity isn’t at full strength.

I have to say thank you for the supportive comments on my CAS attempts. I really appreciate and am grateful for your kind words. I’ll keep at it :)  Thank you friends.

So, since my craftiness isn’t at full par today, I’m posting a card that I submitted for publication and wasn’t accepted.  (Since pub calls are months in advance, that’s why I was making Thanksgiving cards---incidentally very difficult to get psyched about Thanksgiving in June….) Even though this wasn’t picked up, I am happy because I got to color A LOT on this image.  And coloring is always fun!

CAS attempts

Hi Friends

I love clean and simple (CAS) cards. I mean I LOVE them.  But I cannot make them. I try and never NEVER like what turns out. Usually, I just toss them into a bin or deconstruct and reuse the materials.

Tonight, though, I am posting them. Mainly because I really wanted to play in Kim’s challenge at Off the Wall Craftiness.  I love the colors (robin’s egg blue and dark brown---yummy).

Here are my attempts at CAS…

DSC_0009

Both cards use Memory Box stamps (which I love but cannot seem to create anything I really like from).

I may keep trying or I may just go back to my more layered and complicated style:)  I tend to like a challenge, so I will probably keep trying.

Thanks for stopping by and remember there’s the EBTKS sketch challenge going on where you have the opportunity to win a $25 gift card from Lawn Fawn!

Stormy Weather

Hi

Boy, we’ve been having some major thunderstorms go through our area the last few days. Today was no exception.  The winds were whipping and the rain falling.  Yesterday we had a branch in our maple tree break (but not completely, so it’s dangling there). Today the branch moved but didn’t get broken off which is what we were hoping would happen.  Otherwise, we’re going to have to get the saw out and do it ourselves.

Thankfully, the storms came through quickly and appear to have abated for now. My poor dog, Bonnie, really hates the storms. She crawls under the bed (and barely fits, she’s 53 pounds).  I feel so bad for her, and we try to reassure her.  It’s always a relief when the storms are done, she relaxes so much.

Anyway, I don’t have a new card to show you because, well, I’m stuck in a rut. I have made a couple scrapbook pages that I will post after I photograph them.

So today’s card, I made when I was playing around with my Lawn Fawn  stamps.

DSC_0007

The sentiments are from Just my Type Too, and that’s the only stamping on the card. I let the pretty paper do all the work. I love My Mind’s Eye!

I hope you are all well. Is it storming in your area of the country?  If so, and especially if there are warnings of flash floods, please be careful!

HI Dear Friends
It's the 15th of the month, so you know what that means??? Another Everything but the Kitchen Sink sketch challenge. It was Winter's turn to host this one, and she came up with a fun sketch using this as her inspiration:And here's the sketch... Cute huh? This is what I came up with using the sketch. The funny thing is I had creative block (aka lack of mojo) all weekend. Then I remembered I needed to make a card for the sketch, and this card came together so quickly. Sketches help me so much... So this challenge is sponsored by Lawn Fawn. The lucky winner will receive a $25 gift card. Woohoo! I'm sure you won't have any problems putting that to good use.
Best of luck to you all... Get creating, we cannot wait to see what you come up with. Remember to check out the EBTKS blog to see the other designers. They've come up with some amazing creations to inspire you!

It’s a new week

Hi There,

Happy Monday (if there is such a thing---wink). How was your weekend? Mine flew by as they usually do. I have so much I had planned to get done but didn’t. How does that happen?? Oh well, we enjoyed the weekend, and I’m so blessed.

Today, I have a card and a pet photo share with you. First, the card, was a quick birthday card

DSC_0029_edited-1

One of the many things I love about the Lawn Fawn Bake me a cake stamp set is it’s so versatile. You can make an elaborate card that takes a lot of time to do, or you can throw something together in short order (like this card).

Next, I have to share this piccie of our precious Frodo. Yes, I’ve shared his photo before, but I’m telling you, the cat poses for the photos. He knows he’s cute, I think. Look at this… seriously…

DSC_0002

He love laying in the sun, so this is him basking in the afternoon sun coming in through the window. {Happy sigh} I live a very blessed life.

I hope you all have a great start to your week.

2 Sketches for You

Hi Friends,

I hope you are all having a great week. I’m quite grateful it’s nearing an end.  I’ve been dragging really bad and also had to deal with a project from my previous job that is causing me a ton of stress.  I’ll be glad to wrap it up and be able to move on.

I don’t know if it’s because I’m dragging or the stress, but the creative juices haven’t been flowing.  I thought a little stamping retail therapy would help.  I did come up with a card for the 2 Sketches for You using one of the new stamps.  Here’s the sketch:

And here’s my take on the sketch

DSC_0010

I think the peacock images in the Hero Arts Beautiful Peacock set are, well, beautiful:)  I look forward to playing with them some more.  I added some gems to the plumage and broke out the oh so pretty Cosmo Cricket DeLovely paper.  So bright and cheery.

Have a great night

Long time no post

Hi Friends,

Wow, has this week gone by fast. I've been so busy and been neglecting my blog. I am really looking forward to the weekend although it's shaping up to be busy too.

I'm posting a card today that I made awhile back but not shared. This is pretty simple card using Lawn Fawn's Petite Florals (so versatile), and the sentiment (click on photo to get a better view) from How Delightful.

Hope you are doing well, thanks for stopping by

Fun with Fabric

Hi Friends

How was your weekend and first day back at work? I always feel like getting Monday behind me is such an accomplishment.

We had an awesome weekend that flew by (big surprise, eh?) We did go see Iron Man 2 on Sunday and thoroughly enjoyed it. It is just a fun movie.

Anyway, for today’s card, I decided to try the Moxie Fab Fabric challenge. (I know it’s last minute again). I actually made it over the weekend but have had a difficult time photographing this card.

I used some of those fabric quarters that you see at Joann’s to make the flowers. I just cut long strips of the fabric and weaved a needle with some thread along one side and pulled it to crinkle. Add some buttons and some fun polka dotted flowers :)

Thanks for stopping by today, have a blessed week

Birthday set

Hi There friends

I don’t have anything freshly created to share tonight, but I do have something I made awhile back.  I made this gift set using Hero Arts Stamps.  I think this stamp set is so adorable. I mean look at that owl….DSC_0216

Now, I just need a birthday to come along to package up :)

Short post tonight, I hope you all are having a fabulous week.  Any fun weekend plans ? I’d love to hear about them

More Lawn Fawn goodness

Hi There,

This sure has been a fun release of the latest Lawn Fawn stamps. I adore these new sets, so be forewarned you will be seeing more of them on the blog in the coming days. I have some birthday invites to do, and Bake me a Cake is going to be perfect for those.

I have a card today that I made using the Harold's ABCs. A friend of mine needed a graduation card for her cousin (whose school colors were blue and gold), so Harold's ABCs made is easy to customize a card for the occasion.

Also, remember there is the EBTKS challenge going on to use nail polish! It is such a fun idea, and so many creative possibilities as you can see over at the blog. I hope you participate. There's a $30 gift card for Denami to the winner, so give it a shot!

Have a blessed day friends and thanks for stopping by.

Bake me a Cake

Hi Again!

Today is the final day of this Lawn Fawn release. And the sweetest set was saved for last. It’s called “Bake me a Cake". There are so many different combinations for cakes, cupcakes and who knows what else!! I am so looking forward to exploring the possibilities with this adorable set.

I decided to go the cupcake route with my card…DSC_0006_edited-1

Once again, I let the paper dictate the color schemes on this one. The colors were so fun and bright! (Patterned Paper is from About a Girl by Fancy Pants designs. I put some crystal effects on the cherry to add some dimension. Here’s a close up.

DSC_0018

Be sure to go to the Lawn Fawn blog to check out the other design team members’ cards (I can’t wait to see them myself because I just know how amazing they are going to be). I have a hunch that there will be another chance at a giveaway and a video…

Hugs and blessings!

Harold’s ABCs

Hi!

How are you liking the Lawn Fawn preview so far? These sets are so much fun, you're going to love them. Today, we’re previewing the set called “Harold’s ABC’s". As you may have guessed, it’s an alphabet set. Let me tell you that Lawn Fawn put some serious work into this set. The letter stamps are aligned perfectly so that you can just put the stamps together and the words you create will look perfect!

Here’s my card for this preview:

DSC_0001-2_edited-1

In this card, I’ve used 4 different Lawn Fawn sets of stamps (Sun and Smiley from Partly Cloudy, Fish and waves from Critters in the Sea, Heart from Just my Type Too, and the new kid on the block Harold’s ABC’s for the sentiment). Isn’t it awesome when you can mix and match your stamps? Lawn Fawn’s coordinate so well with each other, that it’s so easy to do!

Oh, see the the orange “pearls?'” Those were white until I colored them with my trusty Copic! Love that! I went to use a gem and it was too much, I wanted a pearl finish but not white, so I made my own. (First time doing this, so I'm a little excited).

And that patterned paper is from TPC studios, and it’s reversible. So these panels are from the same piece of paper.

Anyway, I hope you like! Be sure to check out the Lawn Fawn blog for all the designers’ samples, more info and perhaps a chance at a giveaway! YAY!

Hugs and blessings
